RECESSION DRIVES MORE CONSUMERS INTO USED CAR BUYING

A recent article in Used Car News announced today that a study on the automotive industry by A. T. Kearney showed that the recession is still driving buyers to pre-owned vehicles, at the same rate as they had  leased vehicles just five years before. According to the study, for every one new vehicle sold, three used cars were bought.

For a variety of reaons including that the market studies show that there is a wider and better selection of pre-owned cars on the market, forecasters predict 23 million potential used-car sales over the next five to seven years!

The study also showed that if subprime approval rates rise to an average of 40 percent, it will create an additional 800,000 in sales.
